Commander Navy Region Hawaii is the regional coordinator for all shore-based naval personnel and shore activities in Hawaii - as well as the Navy’s representative to the Hawaii community.
Today, the Navy in Hawaii has grown into a major fleet concentration area for more than 15,000 Sailors and 10,000 civilian employees working in more than 60 commands located on Oahu and Kauai, The Navy has the largest military presence in Hawaii and contributes more than $2 billion annually to the local economy, including $1 billion in salaries and $1 billion in operations, contracts and local purchases.
Naval Region Hawaii and Naval Station Pearl Harbor provide key services to maintain the safety and vital infrastructure that allows the Navy to operate efficiently in Hawaii.
- Federal Fire Department provides fire protection and emergency medical services to too Department of Defense installations on OahuSecurity and Law Enforcement: Navy Regional Security Hawaii-Pearl Harbor provides security for Naval Station Pearl Harbor, surrounding Navy properties, including Housing, NEX, and Commissary properties.
- Navy Brig provides for the security, good order, and safety of prisoners, detainees, and awardees.
- Safety Department operates programs that enhance the overall safety of Sailors, civilians and familes living on Navy installations.
