    Captain Pete Dawson

    Naval Base Kitsap Commanding Officer

    Capt. Pete Dawson was born in Corvallis, Ore. He graduated from Oregon State University, received his commission at Officer Candidate School, went to the United States Naval Nuclear Power School, Reactor Prototype trainer, and Submarine School before reporting to his first submarine assignment onboard USS Key West (SSN 722) in August 1985. His first shore assignment was as NROTC instructor at Rice University in Houston, Texas. Capt. Dawson then served as the navigator and operations officer onboard USS Baltimore (SSN 704).

    Commander Christopher Carter

    Naval Base Kitsap Executive Officer

    A native of Beverly, Mass. Cmdr. Carter enlisted in October 1978 and completed recuit training in Orlando, Fla. followed by Hull Maintnenance Technician 'A' school in San Diego, Calif. He then attended Navy diving school in Little Creek, Va. He served enlisted sea tours aboard USS Yellowstone (AD 41) and USS Brunswick (ATS 32) and Submarine Development Squadron 1. While attached to Squadron 1 he qualified as a saturation diver, was advanced to Chief Petty Officer and was commissioned as an Ensign in the Limited Duty Officer program.

    CMDCM(SS) Shaun Peirsel

    Naval Base Kitsap Command Master Chief

    Command Master Chief (Submarines) Shaun M. Peirsel joined the Navy in March 1993.  After Basic Training in San Diego, Calif., he attended Interior Communications Electrician “A” School, also in San Diego, graduating with distinction.  He left the west coast and headed for Groton, Conn. where he attended Basic Enlisted Submarine School. Upon graduation he left Groton and reported to his first submarine, USS Tennessee (SSBN 734)(BLUE) in December of 1994, homeported out of Kings Bay Ga.
