Fire and Emergency Services
Fire Department
Basic Function
Provide fire protection, rescue services, hazardous material response/operation services, emergency medical services, fire prevention and safety programs, and fire investigation services for all military and civilian personnel on board Naval Support Activity Mid-South.
Duties, Responsibilities and Authority By Division
Fire Protection
Inspect facilities and government housing quarters for fire hazards.
Inspect new structures and renovations during all phases of construction to ensure compliance with fire prevention and fire safety requirements.
Develop and conduct fire prevention, fire education and fire safety programs.
Fire Suppression
Provide structural and fire fighting rescue services.
Provide emergency medical care (EMTs).
Provide services for the efficient handling of hazardous materials incidents/accidents.
Provide confined space entry rescue operations.
Through signed mutual agreement, provide aid to Shelby County and City of Millington.
Training
Plan and implement a comprehensive training program for all functional areas of the Fire & Emergency Services.
Establish training exercises with local mutual aid fire & emergency services.
Emergency Communications Center
Provide emergency response services for the department.
Answer calls and provides direction to responding units.
Assist department in working with Mutual Aid Agreement.
