The MWR Department offers an abundance of recreational opportunities through its many facilities: fitness centers, swimming pools (indoor and outdoor), beaches, camping, movie theater, auto-skills center, wood hobby shop, private organizations such as flying clubs, marina, bowling center, golf course, ticket/travel office, marina, Liberty Program/center, food and beverage facilities, child care centers, youth centers and much more!

Navy Recreation Center (NRC) Solomons is the largest outdoor recreation facility in the Navy and is operated by Morale, Welfare, and Recreation (MWR). NRC Solomons provides a wide array of lodging including campgrounds, cottages, bungalows, cabins, and apartments. Recreational facilities such as picnic pavilions, a recreation center, a 124-slip marina, fishing pier, swimming pools, beach, miniature golf, driving range, basketball courts and tennis courts are just a few of the amenities available.

The Fleet and Family Support Center is an on-base social service agency whose goal is to improve the quality of life for the military member and family through counseling and assistance. The FFSC is the first stop for singles and families seeking counseling or assistance with a personal or family matter. FFSC's many free classes and seminars are also a great resource for self-improvement and Navy lifestyle education.

The Naval Air Station Patuxent River’s Navy Housing Office (NHO) has an employee staff of “customer friendly” housing professionals available to serve military families new to the Southern Maryland area. The NHO has information on long and short-term apartment rentals, homes for sale, schools, maps, military clauses, and information about the surrounding local communities. In addition the NHO has information regarding PPV and/or off base private sector community housing.
