Family Support Programs at NAS Patuxent River

The Navy's Fleet and Family Support Program promotes the self-reliance and resiliency of Sailors and their families. We provide these services to the Navy family to meet the unique challenges of the military lifestyle. Family Support Programs include: New Parent Support, Family Life Education, Exceptional Family Member and Family Advocacy Prevention.

New Parent Support Program (NPS)  provides services and support for all eligible military families assigned to Pax River who are expecting a baby or have infants and/or young children.

The Navy's Exceptional Family Member Program (EFMP) is designed to assist sailors by addressing the special needs of their exceptional family members (EFM) during the assignment process. Special needs include any special medical, dental, mental health, developmental or educational requirement, wheelchair accessibility, adaptive equipment assistive technology devices and services. The Fleet and Family Support Program is the Information and Referral (I&R) conduit for questions regarding EFM resources in the local community

The Family Advocacy Program (FAP)provides clinical assessment, treatment and advocacy services for military members and their families involved in incidents of child abuse or domestic abuse. FAP services include assessment of risk, safety planning, and interventions and/or treatment for victims, offenders and others affected by family violence.
