Rear Admiral Fernandez “Frank” Ponds, Commander, Navy Region Hawaii and Naval Surface Group Middle Pacific, will also attend the festivities at the invitation of The Merrie Monarch Festival director.

Dewaruci began her cruise from Surabaya, East Java, Indonesia on January 14.

January 13, 2012 - Navy to recruit 60 Civilian Security GuardsJOINT BASE PEARL HARBOR-HICKAM - Navy Region Hawaii is accepting applications to fill 60 civilian Security Guard positions in Hawaii. Closing date is midnight, January 24 (EST), and start dates are in May and July to coincide with five-week academy classes. Salary ranges from $31,960 to $41,544 per year plus a 12.25% cost of living allowance.

January 12, 2012 - Pearl Harbor Exchange received bomb threatJOINT BASE PEARL HARBOR-HICKAM - The Navy Exchange (NEX) at Pearl Harbor received a bomb threat just before 4 p.m. today. The NEX evacuated everyone in the vicinity as a standard procedure, and a safety zone was established that extends into the parking lot.

June 23, 2011 - USS Port Royal Set to Deploy to the Western Pacific, Middle EastJOINT BASE PEARL HARBOR-HICKAM - The guided-missile cruiser USS Port Royal (CG 73) will depart Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam on June 24, for an independent deployment to the Western Pacific and U.S. Central Command area of responsibility. The crew of more than 300 Sailors will conduct Ballistic Missile Defense operations, maritime interdiction operations and theater security cooperation.
