CIty transfers buses to Pearl Harbor Navy Exchange

Capt. Jeffrey James, commander of Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, and Honolulu Mayor Peter Carlisle met May 11 to exchange a symbolic bus wheel adorned with eight oversized keys. The keys symbolized the no-cost transfer of eight city buses to the Pearl Harbor Navy Exchange (NEX) shuttle bus program. Sante Campanile, Navy Exchange vice president for the Hawaii district, also participated in the ceremony.

 

HURREX is set for May 14-18 to prepare for hurricanes

Navy Region Hawaii will gear up for hurricane season by conducting the annual hurricane preparedness exercise, HURREX 2012, set for May 14-18.

 

Security is on alert for drug use, thefts involving juveniles

Although Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam (JBPHH) remains safe and relatively crime-free, as with any large community, incidents involving illegal activity do occur at times. Oftentimes, these incidents involve, or are suspected of involving, juveniles and young adults who live on and frequent various areas of the base. Two activities in particular that are of recent concern are drug use and theft incidents.

PEARL HARBOR-HICKAM – In accordance with the National Environmental Policy Act of 1969 and Executive Order 12114, Environmental Effects Abroad of Major Federal Actions, the U.S. Navy has prepared a Draft Environmental Impact Statement/Overseas Environmental Impact Statement (EIS/OEIS) to evaluate the potential environmental effects associated with military readiness training and research, development, test and evaluation activities (“training and testing”) conducted within the Hawaii-Southern California Training and Testing (HSTT) Study Area.

 

May 9, 2012 Hospital Ship Mercy to visit Hawaii, Pacific Partnership begins

JOINT BASE PEARL HARBOR-HICKAM – U.S. Navy hospital ship USNS Mercy (T-AH 19) is scheduled to arrive at Pearl Harbor May 9 in support of Pacific Partnership 2012.

 

April 22, 2012 USS Russell (DDG 59) to return from deployment

JOINT BASE PEARL HARBOR-HICKAM – Guided-missile destroyer, USS Russell (DDG 59) will return to Pearl Harbor Monday, April 23, from a deployment to the Western Pacific and the Arabian Gulf.
