Transient Personnel Unit
Welcome to Transient Personnel Unit (TPU), Yokosuka, Japan
the Gateway to the SEVENTH Fleet
Mission Statement
Our mission is to expeditiously process Sailors through the administrative, regular transfer, discipline, and medical pipelines for commands that, because of deployments or overseas location, cannot provide appropriate facilitation themselves. We are committed to customer-centric delivery of trained, motivated war fighters to the 11 deployable units assigned within SEVENTH Fleet Area of Responsibility. We also provide professional transition services and processing for personnel returning to the civilian sector.
TPU is dedicated to the premise of “Service to the Fleet” while complying with all applicable governing instructions. Our secondary mission includes contingency/surge operations and restricted/legal berthing of authorized personnel per governing instructions. TPU processes over 2,000 Transient Sailors annually and manages the barracks that house them. We are a 24/7 operation.
We are located in Bldg 1969, Yokosuka Naval Base. We operate 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and have an outstanding staff to take care of you while you are in a transient status. For questions about TPU, feel free to call our Quarterdeck at DSN 243-5162.
