Visitor Information
Naval Air Station Kingsville is located just off Highway 77 and about three miles from downtown Kingsville. Visitors should exit Highway 77 at the Gen. Cavazas Blvd. exit and turn east; the Main Gate entrance to the air station is located about a mile down the road. Be sure to have a copy of your vehicle insurance (current copy), driver's license, and proper registration on your vehicle. If you do not have these items, you will not be allowed entry onto the air station. If you do have these items, present them to the gate sentry and he/she will direct you on how to enter the base.
Please keep in mind that as a matter of security we do conduct random vehicle searches 7 days a week, 52 weeks a year. If you are selected for search, please follow the directions of the gate sentry and comply with the request. The inspection process only takes about 10 minutes providing you have proper copies of your required paperwork as noted above.
Base Tours/Visits:
The Naval Air Station conducts tours and visits of the base on a once a month basis as part of the command's Community Relations program. All tour and visit requests on board the air station (including those coordinated by tenant commands) must be coordinated through our base Public Affairs Office. Requests for tours or visits must be received in writing, however, and should be addressed to:
Commanding Officer
NAS Kingsville
554 McCain St. Suite 214
Kingsville, TX 78363
Requests:
Once the requests are received and the tour or visit has been approved by the Commanding Officer, the Public Affairs Office will contact you and begin to coordinate your visit. Group size will play an important part of scheduling your visit. The ideal number of people in a group is 15-20, but larger groups can be scheduled on a case-by-case basis. For larger groups, the Public Affairs Staff may split the visitors into two or three groups and require your bus to move the groups around the station throughout the visit. The reason for this is two-fold. First, it allows the PAO staff to break the groups down into workable groups, and second, it provides the facilities that you will be visiting a smaller number of people at one time and ensures your personnel receive the most out of their visit.
NOTE: Due to limited staffing, the Public Affairs Office schedules tours on Thursdays only. Occasionally, requests for other days of the week may be approved providing they do not interfere with the command mission.
NAS Kingsville offers three types of tours/visits:
Routine Visits/Tours:
Provided for local schools and community as a means of educating students and citizens on the role of the U.S. Navy and the Naval Air Station. These types of visits usually include a visit to the squadron hangars, a tour of the flightline, a tour of the Ground Training Complex and Flight Simulator Building, and a tour of the Air Operations Department. Visits to the Fire Department can also be arranged for groups of younger-aged children, and Physical Security demonstrations can be arranged for older groups. Routine Educational Tours take about five hours to complete and a full day on board should be planned.
Aviation Indoctrination Visits/Tours:
These types of visits are provided for groups that support Naval Aviation. Included are High School JROTC and College ROTC units, Sea Cadets, Navy League organizations, former or retired military groups and reunions, business and civic leadership classes, and special groups who are approved by the command. Aviation Indoctrination Visits/Tours concentrate of the mission of the Naval Air Station in supporting the Training Air Wing in training Student Naval Aviators. These visits usually include a visit and tour of the squadron hangars, a tour of the flight line, a visit to Air Operations for a tour of flight planning, Radar, and the Air Traffic Control Tower, and a visit to the Ground Training Complex and Simulator Building. These tours take about four hours to complete for a normal-sized group.
VIP Visits/Tours:
These types of visits/tours are for Congressional delegates, business and civic leaders, educational facilitators, senior military personnel and civilians, guests of the Commanding Officer, and people of influence. All requests for VIP Tours must be forwarded to the Naval Air Station or Commanding Officer/Officer-in-Charge of the tenant activity sponsoring the visit, and forwarded to the NAS Kingsville Public Affairs Office. If you would like to discuss a possible visit or tour of the installation with our Public Affairs Officer, please feel free to contact the PAO at 361-516-6375 or by email at kngv-pao@navy.mil.
General Comments about the Air Station: Feel free to drop the Commanding Officer a note on your recent visit. Send an e-mail to kngv-pao@navy.mil.
