The USS Oregon (SSN 793) conducts a supplies onload with tug boat John P. Wronowski in the mouth of Thames River in Groton, Conn., Oct. 6. The Virginia-class fast attack submarine USS Oregon and crew operate under Submarine Squadron (SUBRON) FOUR and its primary mission is to provide attack submarines that are ready, willing, and able to meet the unique challenges of undersea combat and deployed operations in unforgiving environments across the globe.
The recently commissioned Littoral Combat Ship USS Minneapolis-Saint Paul (LCS 21) pulled into Naval Submarine Base New London (SUBASE) to replenish supplies. Littoral Combat Ships are a fast, agile, mission-focused platform designed for operation in near-shore environments yet capable of open-ocean operation. It is designed to defeat asymmetric "anti-access" threats and is capable of supporting forward presence, maritime security, sea control, and deterrence.
