Learn to be a more willing, capable, and confident caregiver to those having thoughts of suicide.   There are many reasons why people find themselves having thoughts of suicide.  Thoughts of suicide are not unlike the current of a river.  Individuals with these thoughts need a lifeguard, trained in suicide first-aid who can link them to appropriate resources that can help.  ASIST teaches intervention skills.   Over the course of the two day workshop you will learn specific skills that can help you identify those at risk, actively listen to their journey, and encourage them toward safe-for-now. The workshop is open to SVC and Adult Family Members, Authorized Civilian Contractors and MLCs, and Ombudsmen.  To register, call or vist the NAF Atsugi Chaplain’s Office at DSN 264-3202.
