Inspector General

The Naval Base San Diego (NBSD) Inspector General (IG) is a staff billet with reporting responsibility directly to the NBSD Commanding Officer.  The IG receives, assesses and investigates a variety of complaints and Congressional inquiries involving several major Department of the Navy programs, which include acquisition, financial management, engineering, program management, logistics, automated information systems, military and civilian personnel management, safety, environmental concerns and ethics.  The Inspector General also screens incoming Hotline complaints for elements of fraud, waste and mismanagement, and ensures such complaints are clearly and concisely stated, as well as handled discretely.  The IG’s guiding principle is to support Naval Base San Diego in maintaining the highest level of integrity and public confidence.
