  • During an annual holiday gift exchange, Chief Petty Officers from the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force (JMSDF) delivered a pair of Kadomatsu, or gate pines, to the Naval Air Facility Chief Petty Officer Association (NAFA CPOA). The NAFA CPOA presented the JMSDF CPOs with a traditional Christmas wreath. Kadomatsu, made from pine and bamboo are an integral part of the Japanese New Year celebrations and are derived from Shintoism.   • The “Warlords” of Helicopter Maritime Strike Squadron (HSM) 51 held a change of command ceremony where Cmdr. Justin D. Banz (left) relieved Cmdr. Christopher K. Morgan (right) as commanding officer on January 16, 2019.
