Welcome to Navy Region Naval District Washington. "The Quarterdeck of the Navy."  With the nation's capital at its heart, Naval District Washington encompasses more than 4,000 square miles, including the District of Columbia; the Maryland counties of Anne Arundel, Calvert, Charles, Frederick, Montgomery, Prince George's, and St. Mary's, and northern Virginia counties of Loudoun, Fauquier, Fairfax, Prince William, Stafford King George, Westmoreland, Arlington and the cities within their outer boundaries.

  • Supports foreign diplomatic visits and ceremonies within the Greater National Capital Region (NCR).
  • Serves as a proactive and anticipatory component to Joint Task Force NCR and partners with all local, state and federal agencies within the Region.

NDW Showcase

WASHINGTON (February 08, 2024) -- Fleet and Family Support Center members at Naval Support Activity Washington established an in-person Emergency Family Assistance Center (EFAC) on the Washington Navy Yard to test their capabilities and effectiveness in responding to an emergency, February 8, 2024. The EFAC is the central point for victim and family assistance services during a natural/man-made disaster or mass casualty. WASHINGTON (June 5, 2023) - The United States Navy Memorial hosted a wreath laying ceremony in honor of the 81st anniversary of the Battle of Midway, where Chief of Naval Operations U.S. Navy Admiral Michael Gilday was the keynote speaker in attendance, June 2, 2023. The Battle of Midway, fought over and near the Midway atoll, approximately 1,500 nautical miles northwest of Hawaii, represents the strategic high water mark and turning point of the Pacific war.
