Executive Officer, Naval Support Activity Bahrain  

A native of Greeneville, TN, Commander Manuel enlisted in the Navy in September 1987. He served as an Interior Communications Electrician in USS AMERICA (CV 66), USS MCINERNEY (FFG 8), USS O’KANE (DDG 77), and IC “A” School Instructor, Service School Command Great Lakes, IL. He was selected for the LDO Program in 2000.

Following his LDO commission in 2001, he served as Electronics Readiness Officer in USS JARRETT (FFG 33) and Electronics Material Officer in USS STOUT (DDG 55). As a Department Head, he served as Weapons Officer and Combat Systems Officer in USS FORREST SHERMAN (DDG 98).  Most recently, he served as Executive Officer in USS HUE CITY (CG 66).

Ashore, Commander Manuel served as the 10th Company Officer at the U.S. Naval Academy, as Sea-Based Terminal Developmental Manager in Aegis Ballistic Missile Defense at the Missile Defense Agency, as the Enlisted Placement Support Branch Head at  Navy Personnel Command and currently, he is the Executive Officer at Naval Support Activity Bahrain.

Commander Manuel earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Electronics Management from Southern Illinois University, Master of Science Degree in Leadership and Human Resources from the Naval Postgraduate School and is a graduate from the Army Command General Staff College.

His personal awards include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (2 awards), Navy/Marine Corps Commendation Medal (5 awards), Navy/Marine Corps Achievement (5 awards), Good Conduct Medal (3 awards) and various campaign awards.
