CMDCM(SS/DV) Timothy A. Preabt

Command Master Chief, Naval Support Activity Naples

Master Chief Preabt hails from Minot, ND. He joined the Navy in May 1989 and completed Recruit Training in Great Lakes, IL, Interior Communications Electrician’s “A” School at San Diego, CA, and Basic Enlisted Submarine School in Groton, CT. He reported to his first command, the USS BIRMINGHAM (SSN 695) in February of 1990, stationed in Pearl Harbor, HI. During his tour he completed two Western Pacific Deployments and two Northern Pacific Operations.

From January 1995 to December 1996 he served at Naval Submarine Training Center Pacific, in Pearl Harbor, HI, where he served as a Staff Instructor for Interior Communications Electrician “C” Schools and Oxygen Generator Electrical Maintenance Technician School.

His follow on sea assignment was USS MEMPHIS (SSN 691) homeported in Groton, CT as Navigation Division Leading Petty Officer from January 1997 to December 2000. In January 2001 he reported to the Atlantic Fleet Technical Support Center in Groton, CT, where he served as an Independent Technical Representative for the Atlantic Submarine Force.

In January 2004 he reported to the USS LA JOLLA (SSN 701) homeported in Pearl Harbor, HI as Navigation and Operations Department Enlisted Advisor. During his time on board he was advanced to Senior Chief Petty Officer, completed his Chief of the Boat Qualifications, and attended the Senior Enlisted Academy. In January 2007 he completed a two year tour at Commander, Submarine Squadron SEVENTEEN, and Command Submarine Squadron NINETEEN as the Electrical Material Officer in Bangor, WA.

Master Chief Preabt’s Chief of the Boat (COB) and Command Master Chief (CMC) Assignments were the USS KEY WEST (SSN 722) homeported in Pearl Harbor, HI as COB from December 2008 to October 2011 followed by PCU NORTH DAKOTA (SSN 784) homeported in Groton, CT as Pre-Commissioning COB from October 2011 to April 2015 followed by Naval Recruiting District Denver as CMC from February 2015 to February 2017.

He assumed duties as Command Master Chief for NAVAL SUPPORT ACTIVITY NAPLES in March of 2017.

His military decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal ( third award), Navy Commendation Medal with (four awards), Navy and Marie Corps Achievement Medal (seven awards), Good Conduct Medal (eight awards), Meritorious Unit Commendation (four awards), Naval Unit Commendation, Battle “E” ribbon with wreath, Navy Expeditionary Medal, National Defense Service Medal (two awards), Southwest Asia Service Medal, the War on Global Terrorism Service Medal, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon (seven awards), Navy Arctic Service Ribbon, Navy Recruiting Service Ribbon ( seven awards) Kuwait Liberation Ribbon, and the Navy Pistol Sharp Shooter Ribbon.
