Cmdr. Brian Rednour, enlisted in the Navy in 1983 in Lima Ohio. Upon completion of basic training in Great Lakes, IL, Basic Enlisted Submarine School in Groton, CT, and “A” and “C” schools in Dam Neck, VA, he served onboard USS Lafayette (Blue)(SSBN 616) as an Electronics Technician operating and repairing sonar, satellite, and inertial navigation systems out of Scotland. He later became an instructor at the Naval Guided Missiles School Command in Dam Neck VA in 1989 where he was the curriculum manager for both the Prospective Commanding Officer and Navigator courses. He also completed Master Training Specialist and his Bachelors degree.
Commander Rednour’s tour at Naval Guided Missiles School was followed by Trident conversion maintenance training and assignment to the USS Tennessee (Blue) (SSBN 734) in 1994 where he was promoted to Chief Petty Officer and served as the Leading Chief Petty Officer of the Navigation Division, Command Career Counselor, and Diving Officer of the Watch. In 1997, he then transferred to Trident Refit Facility and served as a Ship Superintendant ensuring the on time repair for eight home ported submarines.
Commander Rednour commissioned as a Submarine Electronics LDO (6280) in 2000 and assigned to Trident Training Facility in Bangor, WA, as the Division Officer for Radiomen, Sonarmen, Torpedomen, Fire Control Technicians, and Information Systems Technicians. He oversaw all courses of instruction of “C” and “F” schools in addition to being an instructor for PCO/PXO Command and Control courses. He completed his MBA. In 2002, he was assigned to USS Emory S. Land in La Maddalena, Italy where he served as the Electronics Material Officer and qualified as Surface Warfare Officer. In 2004, he reported to DEVRON 5 serving as the detachment’s AOIC onboard USS Jimmy Carter (SSN 23) earning his Deep Submergence pin and qualifying as Mission Control Officer. He later reported to DEVRON 5 staff as the Combat Systems Officer overseeing all maintenance and modernization for all 21-Class submarines. In 2010 he served as the Electronics Material Officer in SUBRON 15 in Guam, responsible for the Non-Propulsion Electronics Systems of all forward deployed 688-class submarines. In 2012 he reported to Commander, Submarine Force, U.S. Pacific Fleet staff as the submarine type commander for all maintenance and modernization for Non-Propulsion Electronic Systems where he worked with NAVSEA Program Managers and In Service Engineering Agents on future acquisitions and Program of Record weapon system installations and maintenance for the submarine force. Cmdr. Rednour was the Executive Officer onboard USS Emory S. Land (AS-39) where is led the transition from a forward deployed expeditionary ship out of Diego Garcia to a home ported Tender in Guam supporting four SSNs and CSS-15. He assumed the duties as Executive Officer of Naval Base Kitsap in December 2016.
His personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal (two awards), Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (seven awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (two awards) and various campaign and unit awards.
