As military personnel, you are trained to be strong, self-sufficient men and women who do not hesitate to follow orders or to face difficult and often traumatic situations, especially in war time. Your training is what allows our military to be successful. You can be trusted to carry out any mission at any time.
Although you are highly trained to deal with stressful situations, at times problems can arise that may interfere with your ability to function at the highest level possible as a Soldier, Sailor, Airman, or Marine. Relationship problems, death of a loved one, conflicts at work--these are just a few examples of life situations that can worsen your capability, especially if left unchecked over time.
Counseling provides you with a safe place to work through life circumstances such as those mentioned above. In counseling you can learn how to improve your relationships with others, how to cope with difficult people and situations and how to manage stress and anger, just to name a few. There is nothing wrong with seeking help for any problem you may be having. It is always best to do so early on, before problems get out of hand. It takes greater strength to seek help than to ignore problems, and we hope you will take advantage of the counseling services available to you if such a time arises.
