Master Chief Chris Fitzgerald is a native of Jacksonville, NC. He enlisted in the Navy in April of 1993 as a Ship's Serviceman. He attended Recruit Training Command in Great Lakes, IL, followed by SH "A" School in Meridian, MS.
Master Chief Fitzgerald's sea duty assignments include USS BLUE RIDGE (LCC-19), Yokosuka, Japan; USS CIMARRON (AO-177), Pearl Harbor, HI; USS EMORY S. LAND (AS-39), La Maddalena, Italy; USS CHUNG-HOON (DDG-93, plankowner), Pearl Harbor, HI; and USS RONALD REAGAN (CVN-76), San Diego, CA. His shore assignments include Recruiting Duty at NRD San Francisco and Instructor Duty at Naval Technical Training Center, Meridian, MS. His initial Command Master Chief tour was on USS CARTER HALL (LSD-50) in Little Creek, VA from August 2012- July 2014.
His next Command Master Chief tour was onboard USS ANTIETAM (CG-54) in Yokosuka, Japan from July 2014-June 2017.
He then served as the Command Master Chief for the Commander of NAVSUP Global Logistics Support in San Diego from June 2017-April 2018, where he led the command through a challenging disestablishment process.
He reported as the Command Master Chief for Commander, Navy Region Southwest in April of 2018, and detached in October of 2020.
He reported as the Command Master Chief of Naval Station Mayport, FL in October of 2020.
Master Chief Fitzgerald's personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal (2 awards), Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (5 awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (6 awards) and various other unit and campaign awards. He is qualified as an Enlisted Surface Warfare Specialist, Enlisted Aviation Warfare Specialist, Master Training Specialist, and Afloat Training Specialist.
Master Chief Fitzgerald earned his Associates of Arts degree from East Mississippi Junior College, Bachelor’s Degree in Business and Management from Excelsior College, and is a graduate of the Navy's Senior Enlisted Academy (Class 152 Gold), and CMC/COB capstone course. He also attended MCPON’s Executive Leadership Symposium (ELS) in 2017 and the Navy Senior Leader Seminar (NSLS) in 2020.
