Master Chief Zehnacker, a native of Decatur, Illinois, enlisted in the United States Navy in September 1990. Following completion of basic training at Recruit Training Command, Orlando, Florida she reported to Naval Training Center, Orlando, Florida where she completed fireman apprenticeship training.
Upon graduation, she reported onboard USS SIERRA (AD 18), designated as a Machinist mate until its decommissioning in which she transferred to USS SHENANDOAH (AD 44). Her first shore duty assignment was at Naval Submarine Support Facility New London, where she was assigned as an air conditioning and refrigeration technician for the submarines home ported in Groton, CT. After advancement to Petty Officer Second Class, MM2 Zehnacker reported to Master-at-Arms “A” school and followed onto USS ESSEX (LHD 2) where she took part in the Navy’s first “crew swap” with USS BELLEAU WOOD (LHA 3) in Sasebo, Japan. Upon completion of the swap, MA1 Zehnacker transferred to Commander, Navy Region Northeast, where she served as AT/FP liaison to the Group Commander and Deputy and was selected to Chief Petty Officer. She then successfully served on board USS PHILIPPINE SEA (CG 58) as the independent duty Chief Master-at-Arms in which she completed three deployments to the Middle East in support of the Global War on Terrorism and promoted to Senior Chief. She then reported to Marine Corps Security Force Battalion, Kings Bay, serving as Bravo and Headquarters and Support Companies Senior Enlisted Advisor. She was selected into the Command Senior Chief Program in 2010. Shortly after reporting to Fleet Logistics Center Jacksonville she was selected to the rank of Command Master Chief. CMDCM Zehnacker joined the Red Lancers of VP-10 in October 2012, deploying twice to the FOURTH, FIFTH, SIXTH and SEVENTH Fleets AORS in support of Operations MARTILLO and INHERENT RESOLVE. In May 2015, she reported to the USS HUÉ CITY (CG-66), leading the Golden Dragons through a Basic Phase Cycle and a deployment to the Black Sea, FIFTH and SIXTH Fleet AORs. She assumed the duties as Command Master Chief of Naval Station Mayport in June 2018.
She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Sports and Health Sciences with a concentration in Pre-sports Medicine and a Master’s Degree in Sports Management. Additionally, Master Chief Zehnacker has earned her Enlisted Surface Warfare and Enlisted Aviation Warfare designations.
She is a distinguished graduate from the Senior Enlisted Academy Class 147 (Green) and the Command Leadership Course Class 85. Her decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal (2 awards), Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (3 awards), the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (8 awards), 2004 USO Mary-Lou Whitney Navy Leadership Award and various unit and campaign awards.
