Master Chief Valissa A. Tisdale

Navy Region Southwest Regional Master Chief

Master Chief Tisdale joined the Navy from Grenada, MS.  She attended basic training at RTC Orlando, Florida and Ship’s Serviceman “A” School in Meridian, Mississippi.  After graduating from SH “A” School, she reported to her first command, USS HUNLEY (AS-31) in Norfolk, VA.  After three assignments serving as a Ship’s Serviceman, she changed her rating to Master-At-Arms and attended MA “A” School at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, TX in 1998.

Her sea duty assignments include USS HUNLEY (AS-31), USS L. Y. SPEAR (AS-36), USS NIMITZ (CVN-68), USS KITTY HAWK (CV-63), and USS HARRY S. TRUMAN (CVN-75).  Her shore assignments include a Company Commander assignment at Naval Air Station, Meridian, MS, Chief of Police assignment Naval Air Station Pensacola, FL, Assistant Security Officer assignment Naval Support Activity, Manama, Bahrain, and Senior Enlisted Leader Strategic Weapons Facility Pacific, Bremerton, WA.

Master Chief Tisdale is a graduate of the Navy’s Senior Enlisted Academy Class 131, Gray Group.  She was selected for the Command Master Chief Program in January 2012 and attended the Command Master Chief/Chief of the Boat course in January 2013.  After completion of CMC/COB school, she was assigned to HSM-77 in Atsugi, Japan.  She also served at Fleet readiness Center West, Lemoore, CA, Naval Air Facility, Atsugi, Japan, and Joint Region Marianas, Agana, Guam.  She is currently serving as the region Command Master Chief for Commander Navy Region Southwest in San Diego California, where she reported in December of 2020. 

Master Chief Tisdale graduated from the University of Phoenix with a Bachelor’s degree in Finance and with a Master’s degree in Organizational Leadership from Brandman University. Her decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal (4 awards), Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (6 awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (3 awards), and various campaign and unit decorations.
