Military to Conduct Training in Warning Area 517, Radio Barrigada, Open Ocean, and Outer Apra Harbor

ASAN, Guam (March 10, 2020) – The U.S. Navy will conduct training in Warning Area 517 from 1-7 p.m. March 11.

Mariners are advised to be aware of the training and to monitor the U.S. Coast Guard broadcast Notice to Mariners for advisories.

Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron 25 will hold training in Radio Barrigada from 3-11:55 p.m. March 11.

Residents in surrounding areas should be aware that blank ammunition will be used in association with this training, and should not be alarmed if they see or hear increased activity.

The U.S. Navy will also conduct live fire training in Warning Area 517 from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. March 11-12. Mariners are advised to remain clear of the area for the duration of the exercise and to monitor the U.S. Coast Guard broadcast Notice to Mariners for advisories.

The U.S. Marine Corps will conduct an exercise in Radio Barrigada from 10 a.m. March 13 to 10 a.m. March 18.

Residents in surrounding areas should be aware that blank ammunition will be used in association with this training, and should not be alarmed if they see or hear increased activity.

The U.S. Navy will conduct live fire training in open ocean from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. March 14 at the following coordinates: 13˚75”N/144˚333”E, 13˚75”N/144˚600”E, 13˚50”N/144˚600”E, 13˚50”N/144˚333”E, and within a five nautical mile radius of 13˚48”N/144˚417”E.

Mariners are advised to remain clear of the area for the duration of the exercise and to monitor the U.S. Coast Guard broadcast Notice to Mariners for advisories.

The U.S. Navy will hold training in outer Apra Harbor from 7 a.m. to noon March 14.

Coastal Riverine Group 1 Detachment Guam (CRG-1 Det. Guam) will conduct small boat operations in outer Apra Harbor and open ocean from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. March 14.

CRG-1 Det. Guam will also conduct small boat operations in open ocean from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. March 15.

Residents and mariners in surrounding areas should be aware that blank ammunition will be used in association with these events, and should not be alarmed if they see or hear increased activity.

These trainings support readiness and are critical to developing the skills needed to respond to operational missions throughout the region to ensure a stable, free, and open Indo-Pacific.
