Master Chief Christopher Switzer is a native of Harbor Springs, Michigan, where he graduated from Harbor Springs High School in June of 1990 and enlisted in the Navy in July 1990. After basic training, he attended Air Traffic Control “A” School in Millington, Tennessee and subsequent Carrier Air Traffic Control Center (CATCC) “C” school in Millington. He is currently serving as the interim Command Master Chief and Air Operations Departmental Leading Chief Petty Officer.
Master Chief Switzer’s duty assignments include: USS NIMITZ (CVN68), NAS Corpus Christi Texas, USS ABRAHAM LINCOLN (CVN72), NAS FALLON NEVADA, USS ABRAHAM LINCOLN (CVN72), AL Asad Air Base Iraq, Transient Personnel Unit Puget Sound and USS JOHN C STENNIS (CVN74). He assumed the duties of interim Command Master Chief of NAS Patuxent River April 11, 2019.
Master Chief Switzer is a graduate of the Navy Senior Enlisted Academy (SEA), Class 154 (Gold). He reported on board and has been serving as the Air Operations Department Leading Chief since June 20, 2016.
His personal awards include the Navy Commendation Medal, Joint Service Achievement Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal , Good Conduct Medal and various unit and campaign awards.
