Commander, Navy Region Midwest (CMRMW) will be disestablished effective September 30, 2014, and its geographic area of responsibility will be divided between three other existing regions.  CNRMW is currently the shore readiness integrator for the 16 states of North Dakota, South Dakota, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan, Nebraska, Iowa, Oklahoma, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Kansas, Arkansas, Kentucky, Tennessee and Missouri.  CNRMW also supports Take Charge and Move Out (TACAMO) aircraft at Tinker Air Force Base in Oklahoma, and 33 Navy Operational Support Centers (NOSCs).

The region currently includes three major installations:  Naval Station Great Lakes, Illinois; Naval Support Activity (NSA) Crane, Indiana; and NSA Mid-South, Millington, Tennessee.

CNRMW function and installations will be distributed among three other Navy Regions – Commander, Navy Region Mid-Atlantic (CNRMA); Commander, Navy Region Southeast (CNRSE); and Commander Navy Region Northwest (CNRNW).

  • CNRMA will become Shore readiness integrator for an additional six states, including Wisconsin, Michigan, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, and Kentucky, bringing its total to 20 states.  It will gain Naval Station Great Lakes, Illinois, and NSA Crane, Indiana.  It will also gain responsibility for 16 additional NOSCs.
  • CNRSE will become Shore readiness integrator for an addition five states, bringing its total to 12 states.  Those states are Tennessee, Missouri, Kansas, Arkansas and Oklahoma.  It will gain NSA Mid-South in Millington, Tennessee, as well as support for TACAMO aircraft at Tinker Air Force Base, Oklahoma.  It will also gain responsibility for 11 additional NOSCs.
  • CNRNW will become Shore readiness integrator for an additional five states, including Minnesota, Iowa, North and South Dakota and Nebraska, bringing its total to 11 states.  It will also gain responsibility for six additional NOSCs.
