Senior Shore Leadership Course (SSLC)

During this course, students will receive ten days of CNIC-focused education and training in functional areas typically encountered with Shore Installation Management (SIM). Presentations, seminars, case studies and professional readings include Strategic Business Planning, Budgeting, Manpower and Human Resources, Labor & Employee Relations, Workforce Development, Communications, Operations, Fire and Emergency Services, Public Relations/Media Training, Family Services, Legal, NEX, DECA, Safety, Funeral Services/CACO, Facilities, Energy Conservation, Inspector General, Environmental, and several CO Mentor Sessions with Post Installation Commanding Officer's (ICO) and a Regional Commander (REGCOM). Classes are normally from 0730-1630 with time allotted for lunchtime physical training, required readings, and practicals. Approximately two working lunches are included. 

Objective
To prepare senior shore installation leaders, using the model of the "Command Triad" (COs, XOs, and CMCs), to more effectively lead and manage assigned resources to provide cost-wise shore services and support to the Fleet, Fighter and Families. 

Quota Eligibility
This course prepares Senior Military Officers (O-4 and above) and Senior Civilian Supervisors for the complex task of Shore Installation Management (SIM), including the management of civilian personnel, financial and facility resources, and a wide range of complex enterprise requirements needed to optimally support the Fleet, Fighter, and Family. This course is required for Commander Navy Installations Command (CNIC) Prospective Commanding Officers, Prospective Executive Officers, Regional Chiefs of Staff and Command Masters Chiefs or Senior Enlisted Advisors. Additionally, command recommended CNIC Civilian Supervisors, Program Directors, and Program Managers (GS-14 and above) may attend on a space-available basis. Civilian attendees must be nominated via their Headquarters.
