Commanding Officer

Captain Kenneth Crowe serves as Commanding Officer, Camp Lemonnier, Djibouti. A native of California, he graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Colorado with a bachelor's degrees in Economics and Commercial Spanish. He was designated a Naval Flight Officer at Naval Air Training Unit, Mather Air Force Base, CA, in May 1990.

CAPT Crowe's first tour was with Proud Pegasus, VP11. As a P-3C mission commander and tactical coordinator. He completed three deployments to the Mediterranean and Caribbean Seas in support of Operation Sharp Guard, U.N. resolutions and JIATF counter-narcotic operations.

His next tour was with CTF-67, Naples, Italy, as the Deputy Assistant Chief of Staff for Exercises, Supporting Operations in the Former Republic of Yugoslavia. He also flew with Special Projects Squadron One, in support of the Kosovo Liberation Campaign and various worldwide detachments.

Upon affiliation with the Navy Reserve in 2000, he flew with the Minutemen of VP-92 and as a P-3C Mission Commander, Instructor Tactical Coordinator, P-3 AIP Tactical Coordinator and Aircraft Maintenance Department Head. He served as Executive Officer of NR U.S. Forces Korea, Detachment 102, conducting joint and unified staff support and as Commanding Officer for COMPATRECONWING FIVE Tactical Support Center. CAPT Crowe was also the Training Department Head and Exercise Department Head for Detachment 802, a Staff Support Unit to COMSIXTHFLT/CINCUSNAVEUR. In 2011 he mobilized in support of Operation Enduring Freedom to USFF as a force requirements liaison to Joint Staff. He commanded NR Carrier Strike Group FOUR, NR Navy Information Operations Command, Norfolk and served as Reserve Component Deputy Director Navy Staff at the Pentagon.

CAPT Crowe is employed by General Dynamics (Bath Iron Works) as a Senior Principal Project Manager in Systems Engineering, having worked on major acquisition programs, currently supporting Zumwalt and Arleigh Burke Flight III Destroyer Programs.

His decorations include the Legion of Merit, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Navy Meritorious Service Medal (three awards), Navy Air Medal (with 4 strikes), Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (three awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (two awards) and numerous unit and campaign awards.

In 2005 he received a Master's Degree in Business Administration from the University of Southern New Hampshire. He completed the Naval War College JPME Level 1 and the National Defense University Reserve Component National Security Course and is fluent in Spanish and Italian.
