Master Chief Wood is a native of Cecilia, Kentucky and began her Naval career in June 1993 at Recruit Training Command, Orlando, Florida. She completed Hospital Corpsman "A" School in San Diego, California and reported to her first duty station at Naval Hospital Millington, Tennessee.
After leaving Millington, TN in 1995, Master Chief Wood attended Surgical Technologist "C" School at Naval School of Health Sciences in Bethesda, Maryland, where she graduated with Honors and Distinction. After completing her training, she transferred to Naval Hospital Jacksonville, Florida in February 1996. Other shore assignments include Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Illinois, where she was selected as the Recruit Division Commander of the Year; U.S. Naval Hospital Okinawa, Japan, where she was selected as the Sailor of the Year; and Naval Medical Center San Diego, CA, where she deployed on USS Cleveland (LPD-7) in support of Pacific Partnership 2011. Master Chief completed fleet assignments at 3d Marine Division, Okinawa, Japan and 1st Medical Battalion, 1st Medical Logistics Group, 1st Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Pendleton, California.
Master Chief Wood was selected in 2015 to Master Chief Petty Officer. Her command master chief tours include 1st Dental Battalion, 1st Marine Logistics Group and Helicopter Maritime Strike Squadron SEVEN ONE (HSM-71) which deployed on USS John C. Stennis for an around the world deployment. Master Chief Wood is currently serving as installation command master chief at Naval Air Station Sigonella.
Master Chief Wood is a Master Training Specialist, an honor graduate of the Senior Enlisted Academy (class 136) and a graduate of the Command Master Chief course. Master Chief Wood is qualified as an Enlisted Aviation Warfare Specialist, Enlisted Fleet Marine Force Warfare Specialist, and Enlisted Surface Warfare Specialist.
Her decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal (two awards), Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (7 awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (3 awards), Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal (two awards) and various unit awards.
