Commander Jeremy N. Lyon hails from Hesperia, California. He graduated from the University of Arizona in 2001, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Interdisciplinary Studies. Additionally, he holds a Master of Arts in International Relations Conflict Resolution form American Military University.

Commander Lyon completed Officer Candidate School in and entered flight training in Pensacola, FL in the spring of 2002 and was designated a Naval Flight Officer in March of 2004. Upon completion of initial P-3C "Orion" training at Patrol Squadron THIRTY (VP-30) in Jacksonville, FL, he reported to his initial operational assignment with the "GREY KNIGHTS" of Patrol Squadron FORTY SIX (VP-46). Designated an Instructor Tactical Coordinator (TACCO) and Mission Commander he completed two SEVENTH Fleet deployments including detachments to Japan, Thailand, South Korea, Australia, Philippines and Guam.  Subsequent operational tours include OPS ADMIN and TAO aboard USS GEORGE H. W. BUSH (CVN-77); department head tour with the "GOLDEN SWORDSMEN" of Patrol Squadron FOUR SEVEN (VP-47), in Kaneohe Bay, HI; Commanding Officer tour with the “FIGHTING TIGERS” of VP-8.   

Lyon’s shore assignments include Operations Officer to Commander, Task Force FIFTY-SEVEN (CTF-57) in Manama, Bahrain. During this time Commander Lyon detached to Camp Slayer, Baghdad, Iraq where he established MPRA support to Multi-National Forces Iraq in support of Operation IRAQI FREEDOM; subsequent shore tours include instructor NFO at VP-30 with designation as an Orion Weapons and Tactics instructor (WTI) and Maritime Patrol and Reconnaissance Weapons School (MPRWS) Fleet Training Department Head and Assistance Officer in Charge; Congressional Appropriations Liaison under the Secretary of the Navy. His liaison portfolio included Naval Aviation, Aircraft Carriers, Procurement of Ammunitions Navy and Marine Corp, House Appropriations Committee on Surveys and Inspections, and Special Access Programs.  He assumed the duties of Deputy Commander, Commander, Task Force SIXTY-SEVEN (CTF-67) in Sigonella, Italy June 2021.

In his career, Commander Lyon has accumulated over 2000 flight hours and his personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal (2), Navy Commendation Medal (4), Navy Achievement Medal (3) and various unit and service awards.
