You should contact your local medical facility to begin the immunization series far enough in advance to prevent a last minute panic while trying to receive all your shots at once. Having to receive them all at once can be painful, especially for children. Allocating sufficient time to spread your shots out over a few days is a better course of action. Additionally, while it is not a requirement, the Hepatitis A shot is a good one to have while in Italy for travel purposes. Although the risk of Hepatitis is not present in Italy, it is present in Romania, Albania, Turkey, Greece, Africa, and many other countries outside central Europe. An "International Certificate of Vaccination" is required and will be used when you have completed the required shots before leaving the states. Booster shots are given locally.
