Lt. Col. Ryan L. Herman is the Commander, 725th Air Mobility Squadron, Naval Station Rota, Spain. He is responsible for the execution of all en route maintenance, aerial port, and command and control functions supporting the United States Transportation Command’s Defense Transportation System. The squadron generates, launches, and recovers mobility aircraft and manages Air Mobility Command missions transiting Naval Station Rota. Additionally, the squadron oversees and provides functional expertise and technical support to Air Mobility Command geographically separated units at Moron Air Base, Spain and Naval Station Sigonella, Italy.
Lt Col Herman received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Human Factors Engineering and his commission from the United States Air Force Academy in 2004. He has served as a SOLL II Left Seat Evaluator pilot in the C-17A, a Contingency Response Element Evaluator in the 621 Contingency Response Wing, and has completed multiple deployments supporting named military operations around the world. Lt. Col. Herman has accumulated more than 3,000 flying hours with more than 1,090 combat hours.
