Command Master Chief, Naval Support Activity Bahrain

Master Chief Latimer transferred to Pre- Commissioning Detachment Unit July 1993 in Norfolk, VA.  February 1994, he became a “plankowner” by commissioning USS SUPPLY (AOE-6) and served as workcenter supervisor.  In the winter of 1996, he reported to the USS GRAPPLE (ARS-53) in Little Creek, VA.  and served as Deck Departmental Leading Petty Officer.  There he was “Leading Salvor” for the recovery efforts of TWA flight 800.

His next tour of duty he attended Navy Instructor School and reported to Recruit Training Command Great Lakes, IL.  He served as Recruit Division Commander and Battle Stations Facilitator.  After being promoted to Chief Petty Officer in 2001, he reported to the USS JUNEAU (LPD 10) in Sasebo, Japan.  He served as Deck Department Leading Chief Petty Officer and Assistant Boarding Officer providing protection to two key Iraqi oil platforms in the North Arabian Gulf.  He was AMPHIBIOUS GROUP ONE nominee for 2004 “USS CONSTITUTION George Sirian Meritorious Service Award” and USS JUNEAU’S “Admiral Arleigh Burke Surface Warfare Award Nominee”. 

March 2005, he reported aboard USS FORT MCHENRY (LSD-43) in Sasebo, Japan and promoted to Senior Chief Petty Officer, he served as Deck Department Leading Chief petty Officer.  The spring of 2006 he conducted a Hull Swap with the USS TORTUGA (LSD-46) in Sasebo, Japan.  March 2008, he was selected to the rank of Master Chief Petty Officer. 

In October 2008, his next assignment took him to Naval Station Pearl Harbor, Hawaii where he served as Port Operations Senior Enlisted Advisor.  In 2010, he was instrumental in the historical merger and commissioning of Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam prior to being selection as a Command Master Chief. 

In September 2011, he reported as CMC in USS CHAFEE (DDG 90), enjoyed a seven month deployment to 7th Fleet AOR conducting Theater Security Cooperation’s that strengthened relationship with joint and alliance militaries.  Lay host to SECDEF and CNO in the historical “GREAT GREEN FLEET” demonstration during the rim of the pacific 2012. 

In March 2014, he reported to Special Projects Patrol Squadron Unit Two (VPU-2) as Command Master Chief. During his tenure the squadron earned “Battle Efficiency”, “Retention Excellence” and “Golden Wrench” Awards.  In November 2016 Master Chief Latimer reported aboard Naval Support Facility Diego Garcia. 

Master Chief Latimer attended and graduated the Navy Senior Enlisted Academy, (160 Gray), and CMC/COB Course 92.  He earned Associates in Art Degree in Management and Vocational/Technical Education from Coastline Community College. 

His personal awards include the Enlisted Aviation Warfare Specialist, Enlisted Surface Warfare Specialist, Master Training Specialist, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Metal (2 gold stars), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Metal (2 gold stars), Good Conduct Metal (4 bronze stars), and numerous campaign and service awards.
