CAPT Jon Rigby is a native of Shallowater, Texas. He graduated from Texas Tech University in 1996 with a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry and was commissioned after attending Officer Candidate School in 1999. Additionally, he holds a Master of Science degree in Applied Physics from the Naval Post Graduate School and a Master of Arts degree in National Security and Strategic Studies from the US Naval War College.
His sea tours include Communications and Electrical Officer in USS DE WERT (FFG-45); Operations Officer in USS BLACKHAWK (MHC-58); Chief Engineer in USS CARTER HALL (LSD-50); lead Diesel Assessor in ATGLANT: ENGINEERING ASSESSMENTS ATLANTIC; Navigator in USS IWO JIMA (LHD-7); Executive Officer and Commanding Officer in USS HARPERS FERRY (LSD-49).
Ashore, his assignments include attending Naval Post Graduate School at Monterey, CA; Commanding Officer of NOSC Amarillo, TX; N3 for COMNAVSURFPAC; and attended the Naval War College in Newport, RI. He is currently slated as the next Commanding Officer of NSF Deveselu, Romania.
CAPT Rigby's awards include the Meritorious Service Medal (two awards), Navy Commendation Medal (five awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, Army Achievement Medal, and various other awards.
