Captain Eric Williams

 Commanding Officer 

Captain Williams is a native of Vaiden, MS and 1984 graduate of Vaiden High School. Enlisting in the Navy in January 1985, he graduated Recruit Training Command Orlando, Florida. Follow on training included Interior Communications Electricians “A” School and a host of engineering technical training courses. In 1998, after serving at sea and ashore, he was commissioned to Ensign under the Limited Duty Officer (LDO) program.

His sea tours included duty on ships home ported in East and West coast ports and in Japan; USS Carl Vinson (CVN 70) and USS John S. McCain (DDG 56) where he was advanced to the rank of Chief Petty Officer. Subsequent Officer sea tours include Auxiliary/Repair Officer in USS Vella Gulf (CG 72), Main Propulsion Assistant in USS Ponce (LPD 15), Electrical Inspector/Senior Engineer in President Board of Inspection and Survey (INSURV), Chief Engineer in USS Blue Ridge (LCC 19) home ported in Yokosuka, Japan, appointment Chief Engineer in USS Denver (LPD 9), Chief Engineer in USS Essex (LHD 2) and Chief Engineer USS Bonhomme Richard (LHD 6) home ported in Sasebo, Japan.

Ashore assignments include Naval Historical Center Washington, DC, Machinery Systems Console Maintenance Course and Recruit Division Commander Great Lakes, IL and Maintenance Officer in Beach Masters Unit Two Norfolk, VA. His staff assignments as ACOS for Training Readiness (N7) and ACOS for Maintenance-Material Readiness (N43) and “Temporary appointment as Deputy Commander, Amphibious Force 7th Fleet” Expeditionary Strike Group Seven Sasebo, Japan, Commanding Officer, Surface Warfare Officers School Unit (SWOSU) Great Lakes, IL, and Executive Officer, Mid-Atlantic Regional Maintenance Center (MARMC) Norfolk, VA.

Captain Williams holds Master of Arts Degrees in Leadership Management and in Human Resource Development from Webster University, a Bachelor of Science Degree in Work Force Development from Southern Illinois University and an Associates of Science Degree in General Studies from Central Texas College.

Personal awards include the Legion of Merit Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (six awards), Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (five awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (three awards), Good Conduct Medal (three awards) and various unit and campaign awards.

Captain Williams is married to Barbara Applewhite Williams. They have two sons, Anthony and Eric.
