Senior Chief Mass Communication Specialist Jackey Smith, Commander Navy Region Hawaii.
Senior Chief Jackey Smith is a native of Lincoln, Nebraska. After graduating from Lincoln High School, she immediately attended the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. In the spring of 2000, she enlisted in the United States Navy. Following completion of Recruit Training at Great Lakes, Ill., and Seaman Apprentice School, she reported for duty aboard USS ROOSEVELT (DDG-80).
Senior Chief’s sea duty assignments include USS ASHLAND (LSD 48), Little Creek, VA; Navy Expeditionary Combat Command det. Norfolk Combat Camera Norfolk, VA (disestablished in 2018), where she deployed to Baqubah, Iraq, Djibouti, Africa, and Bahrain; Navy Public Affairs Support Element West (NPASE), San Diego, CA, where she deployed aboard USNS Mercy (T-AH 19) in support of Pacific Partnership 2018.
Her shore assignments include Naval Air Station Jacksonville, FL, Commander Navy Region Mid-Atlantic, Norfolk, VA, Instructor Duty at the Defense Information School, Fort Meade, MD, and the Pentagon, where she served as the Public Affairs Officer for the 13th Master Chief Petty Officer of the Navy (MCPON).
Most recently, in August of 2019, she reported for duty at Commander Navy Region Hawaii.
Senior Chief Smith is a graduate of the U.S. Navy Senior Enlisted Academy, class 231.Additionally, she is qualified as an Enlisted Surface and Aviation Warfare Specialist, and is certified as a Master Training Specialist.
Her personal awards include the Bronze Star Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (2 awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (5 awards); Combat Action Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal (6 awards) and various unit and campaign awards.
