Born in Neptune City, NJ and raised on Long Island, NY, Master Chief Keller graduated from Connetquot High School in June 1990. He enlisted in the Navy and reported for recruit training January 1993 in San Diego, California.
Master Chief Keller completed Data Processing Technician Class ‘A’ and ‘C’ schools before reporting to USS INDEPENDENCE (CV-62) homeported in Yokosuka, Japan. His subsequent sea and overseas duty assignments include USS NIMITZ (CVN-68); USS GEORGE WASHINGTON (CVN-73) both homeported in Norfolk, VA; and DISA-Europe at Stuttgart Germany as the SATCOM Systems Manager. Deployments include service in South West Asia, Arabian Gulf, Persian Gulf, Mediterranean Sea, and Afghanistan.
His shore duty assignments include United States Atlantic Command, later renamed United States Joint Forces Command at Norfolk, VA; Joint Communications Unit (JCU), FT Bragg, NC where he served as Automations LCPO; he was subsequently selected for assignment as the J6 Operations / Plans LCPO at the Joint Special Operations Command (JSOC) also at Fort Bragg, NC and Naval Station Norfolk as Administrative Department LCPO.
In 2013 he was selected into the Command Master Chief program and reported to USS PORTER (DDG-78) homeported in Rota, Spain. In June 2016, he assumed his current role as Command Master Chief for Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam
Along with multiple unit and campaign awards, Master Chief Keller’s personal awards include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal (5 awards), Joint Service Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (2 awards), Joint Service Achievement Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (4 awards), and the Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal. He is qualified as an Enlisted Surface Warfare Specialist, Enlisted Aviation Warfare Specialist, Expeditionary Warfare Specialist, Enlisted Information Warfare Specialist and designated as a Naval Parachutist.
Master Chief Keller holds an Associate of Science degree in Business Administration from Tidewater Community College, a Bachelor of Science in Computer Information Systems from Excelsior College and a Master of Science in Information Systems Management from Trident University. He is a graduate of the Navy Senior Enlisted Academy Non-Resident Course (Class 13), Command Master Chief/Chief of the Boat Course (Class 124) and the KEYSTONE Joint Senior Enlisted Leader Course (15-2).
