Release #JB004-21

June 8, 2021

JOINT BASE PEARL HARBOR-HICKAM (JBPHH) – An “All Clear” has been sounded and all residents and employees of the installation are able to continue with normal operations.

At 9:39 a.m., entrances to JBPHH were secured and residents and employees were directed to shelter in place as the result of a reported potential security incident. While the base remained fully operational, the Emergency Operations Center was manned to coordinate the response to the threat.

Units from Honolulu Police Department and Federal Fire Department responded to assist in the investigation with JBPHH Security and other emergency personnel.

Tours to the USS Arizona Memorial and other historic partners have resumed. During the investigation, those tours were suspended, and guests at both the USS Missouri Memorial and the Pearl Harbor Aviation Museum on Ford Island sheltered in place as well.

"We are grateful to the first responders who helped us investigate and secure the potential incident,” said Col. Tammie Harris, Deputy Joint Base Commander. “I want to assure everyone that we will do everything possible to maintain the operational readiness of JBPHH while protecting the safety of our base employees, our service members and their families.”
