Capt. Keith Matthew Henry graduated from High School in Cheshire, CT in 1987. He graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy in the Class of 1991, majoring in Electrical Engineering. After flight training in Pensacola, FL and Meridian, MS, he was winged in February of 1994 and proceeded to Cecil Field for FA-18 training in VFA-106.
Henry joined the Rampagers of VFA-83 in April of 1995. He served as an LSO while cruising with CVW-17 onboard the USS Enterprise (CVN 65) in support of missions over Bosnia and Operation Southern Watch in Iraq. With the Rampagers, he served as Schedules Officer, Aircraft Division Officer and Training Officer.
In July of 1998, he entered the U.S. Navy Test Pilot School in Patuxent River, MD. After graduating in 1999 with Class 115, he moved to Point Mugu, CA to join the Naval Weapons Test Squadron, Point Mugu as the Harpoon/SLAM/SLAM ER Project Officer.
Henry joined the VFA-195 Dambusters in Atsugi, Japan in September of 2001. He deployed on the USS Kitty Hawk (CV 63) in support of Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom. He served as their Safety Officer, Maintenance Officer, and Operations Officer.
In March of 2004, he reported to NSAWC in Fallon, NV. He served as an Overall Instructor for Air Wing Training, the N5 Sea Trial Branch Head and the N5 Land Strike Branch Head.
Henry joined the U.S. Pacific Command at Camp Smith, HI in February of 2006. As the Joint Interface Control Officer in the J3 Operations Directorate, he was responsible for theater Data Link issues and the USPACOM GCCS-J Common Operational Picture.
Reporting to the Golden Dragons of VFA-192 in July 2008 as their Executive Officer, he then transitioned into role of Commanding Officer. During his tenure, VFA-192 completed three cruises on two ships, the Golden Dragons completed a homeport change to NAS Lemoore, CA and they were awarded the 2009 Battle E.
In March, 2011, Commander he reported to the USS George Washington as Air Boss. He led the 750 Sailors of Air Department to three consecutive Yellow E’s while overseeing 12,000 safe launches and recoveries.
In July 2013, he joined Seventh Fleet, serving as lead for Seventh Fleet IAMD.
In June 2014, he assumed Command of Naval Air Facility Misawa, Japan. Captain Henry was responsible for Installation support to Seventh Fleet aviation units on a Joint and Bilateral Air Station. During his tenure, the initial rotational deployments of both EA-18G and P-8A to Misawa were established.
In July, 2017, he reported as Chief of Staff for CNFJ and CNRJ.
Henry has over 3,000 hours in 25 different aircraft, including over 450 arrested landings and 2,200 hours in the F/A-18C. His awards include the Legion of Merit, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Navy Meritorious Service Medal (Second), Individual Air Medal with "V", Strike Flight Air Medal (Second), the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (Fourth), Joint Meritorious Unit Award, Navy Unit Commendation, Meritorious Unit Commendation, and the Battle E Award (Third)
