US Naval Hospital

Emergency treatment and medical evacuation (MEDEVAC) overseas can easily cost tens of thousands of dollars for non-SOFA personnel. If you are planning to host friends or family members who are not categorized as legal dependents, for any period of time, ensure they purchase traveler's insurance, specific to the location of travel (i.e. Japan) prior to travel.

Non-SOFA status civilians are NOT authorized to receive care at military treatment facilities (MTF) nor at the local Japanese hospitals. If a civilian does not have insurance and needs emergency care they will personally incur all medical and transport costs (out-of-pocket expenses).

U.S. Naval Hospital Okinawa is the largest overseas hospital in the United States Navy. Located on Camp Foster, the hospital provides professional health care for the more than 55,000 beneficiaries on Okinawa and referral services for nearly 189,000 beneficiaries distributed around the Pacific.

18th Medical Group is the Air Force's largest, freestanding ambulatory clinic in terms of assigned personnel and provides extensive medical, dental and support services to Kadena and other Department of Defense beneficiaries living on Okinawa. More than 70 medical and dental providers care for nearly 800 patients every day. Specific services include family practice, pediatrics, gynecology, optometry, mental health (including adult and child psychiatry), physiological training, and a health and wellness center. Four squadrons with 500 people comprise the medical group.

3rd Dental Battalion's mission is to ensure dental readiness and optimize dental health for all beneficiaries while supporting operational and humanitarian mission on Okinawa.
