Child and Youth Programs

Child and Youth Programs (CYP) support operational readiness, mission accomplishment, and retention by assisting Navy personnel in balancing the competing demands of family and work life.  CYPs provide developmental child care and youth recreational programs and services for eligible children and youth 4 weeks to 18 years of age.  Programs and services are specifically designed and operated to meet the unique needs of the military mission and Service members and their families.  CYP programs in Okinawa are provided by the Air Force and Marine Corps.  Click below to learn about programs offered by each.

School Liaison

For families wanting more information on school-related issues, Kadena Air Base's Air Force School Liaison Officer is here to help. The School Liaison Officer represents the command between Department of Defense Dependent Schools (DoDDS), teachers, parents, students and the military community. The SLO can provide you and your family with information on school transition, registration and other important school related issues. Whether you are just arriving at Kadena Air Base or moving to another location, please contact Ms. Elaine Daly-Rath at or call DSN (315) 634-2231 for assistance.

For families with autistic children enrolled in DoD schools, the Department of Defense Education Activity (DoDEA) has set up a hot line for parents to ask questions. The number is 644-5902.
