Lieutenant Commander Feldhues is a native of St. Louis, Missouri and a 1986 graduate of Fox Senior High School.  Following graduation, he enlisted in the United States Navy and reported to Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Illinois for basic training on 3 July 1986.  Upon completion, he reported to Naval Air Technical Training Center, Millington, Tennessee for Aviation Electronics “A” School where he completed Advanced Aviation Electronics Course.

Lieutenant Commander Feldhues’ first fleet assignment was with the “Arch Angels” of HSL-31, NAS North Island.  In 1989, he terminated shore duty and reported to the “Easy Riders” of HSL-37, NAS Barbers Point, Hawaii.  Upon reporting for duty he immediately deployed with Detachment Nine embarked on USS OUELLET (FF-1077).  He made several deployments to the Arabian Gulf in support of Operation DESERT SHIELD and DESERT STORM.  In July 1992, he re-enlisted and re-toured in HSL-37 ensuring the successful transition of the squadron from the SH-2F to the SH-60B.
