Lieutenant Commander Erin Sherry is a native of Idaho, and commissioned in August 2002 at University of Idaho NROTC with B.A. in International Studies and French. She earned her M.A. in International Peace and Conflict Resolution focusing in International Security from American Military University in January 2009.
LCDR Sherry’s operational tours include Main Propulsion Division Officer aboard USS MASON (DDG-87) in Norfolk, VA, and Assistant Operations Officer of Destroyer Squadron FIVE ZERO forward deployed in Manama, Bahrain as a division officer. As an Individual Augmentee, she deployed with Special Operations Command Central (SOCCENT) to various locations in the Middle East as an Action Officer.
Following Department Head School in Newport, RI, LCDR Sherry served as Chief Engineer in USS THE SULLIVANS (DDG-68) and USS GETTYSBURG (CG-64) in Mayport, FL. LCDR Sherry reported to Carrier Strike Group FIVE / CTF 70 embarked on USS GEORGE WASHINGTON (CVN-73) and later on USS RONALD REAGAN (CVN-76) as the Deputy Maintenance, Material, Readiness (N4) and Training Officer, forward deployed in Yokosuka, Japan.
While ashore, LCDR Sherry served as the Executive Officer of Assault Craft Unit FOUR and Training Support Center, Great Lakes IL; Assistant N4 of Destroyer Squadron FOURTEEN in Mayport, FL and the Ballistic Missile Defense Action Officer and the SM-3 Missile Manager at US Fleet Forces Command, Global Force Management.
Her personal decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal (two awards), Joint Service Commendation Medal, the Navy-Marine Corps Commendation Medal (five awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (four awards) and various unit and campaign medals.
