Commander Robert Bulatao, of San Diego, California, is a 1999 graduate of the University of Southern California where he was commissioned via the Naval Reserve Officers Training Corps program. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in International Relations from USC and a Master of Science degree in Administration from Central Michigan University.
A qualified Surface Warfare Officer, Commander Bulatao, served aboard USS Valley Forge (CG 50), USS Jarrett (FFG 33), USS Bonhomme Richard (LHD 6), USS Peleliu (LHA 5), and USS Makin Island (LHD 8). He has deployed multiple times for operations in the Caribbean Sea and Eastern Pacific Ocean in support of Counternarcotics Operations, the Middle East in support of Operations Enduring Freedom, Iraqi Freedom and Inherent Resolve, and the Western Pacific in support of Operation Enduring Freedom – Philippines.
Ashore, Commander Bulatao most recently served as the Executive Officer of the Naval Reserve Officers Training Corps Unit, University of Florida. He also served on the staff of United States Africa Command, Stuttgart, Germany as the Maritime Programs Officer in the Strategy, Engagement, and Programs Directorate (J5). He was a Future Operations and exercise planner on the staff of Commander Expeditionary Strike Group Three. Commander Bulatao attended the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College, Ft. Leavenworth, Kansas. At Navy Operational Support Center Los Angeles, he served as Operations and Training Officer.
CDR Bulatao has been awarded various personal and unit awards to include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal, and the Navy Commendation Medal.
