Captain Bradley N. Rosen

Chief of Staff

A native of Randolph, New Jersey, Capt. Brad Rosen is a 1995 graduate of the United States Naval Academy where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Political Science (with Honors). He also received a Masters in Public Administration from Harvard University’s John F. Kennedy School of Government in 2005.
 
He was designated a Naval Flight Officer upon completion of flight training at Naval Air Station Pensacola, Florida and Randolph Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas. After P-3C Orion fleet replacement training, he reported to the War Eagles of Patrol Squadron SIXTEEN (VP-16). While attached to VP-16, Rosen completed a tri-site deployment to Panama, Puerto Rico, and Iceland. He also completed a second six-month deployment to Italy in support of peacekeeping operations in the Balkans as part of Operations DELIBERATE GUARD and DELIBERATE FORGE. Other operational assignments include a tour on USS JOHN F. KENNEDY (CV 67) as a Catapult and Arresting Gear Officer as well as a Department Head tour with the Pelicans of Patrol Squadron FOUR FIVE (VP-45). While assigned to VP-45, the squadron completed a tri-site deployment to El Salvador, Italy, and Djibouti.
 
After screening for operational command, Rosen returned to the War Eagles of Patrol Squadron SIXTEEN (VP-16). While serving as Executive Officer, the squadron completed a tri-site deployment to El Salvador, Italy, and Djibouti in support of counter-narcotics operations and OPERATION ENDURING FREEDOM-HORN OF AFRICA. After assuming command, the squadron completed a second six-month deployment to Kadena Air Base, Japan in support of maritime patrol operations throughout the Western Pacific.
 
Ashore, Rosen has served as a Weapons and Tactics Instructor at Patrol Squadron 30 (VP 30), the Fleet Replacement Squadron for the Maritime Patrol and Reconnaissance community. He also served as a Strategic Planner and Special Assistant to the Deputy Chief of Naval Operations for Information, Plans, and Strategy (OPNAV N3/N5) as well the Deputy Executive Assistant to the Director, Air Warfare (OPNAV N88). Following his command tour, he served at U.S. Pacific Command as the Chief of the Joint Reconnaissance Center and Deputy Director of the Current Operations Division (J33). He was then selected for the Secretary of Defense Corporate Fellows Program and was assigned to Cisco Systems in San Jose, CA. Upon completion of his fellowship, he was assigned as a Special Assistant to the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Legislative Affairs.
Rosen commanded Naval Station Norfolk, the largest base in the United States Navy, from 2018 to 2020.  While in command, Naval Station Norfolk earned the Commander in Chief’s Award for Installation Excellence.
 
Rosen reported to Navy Region Mid-Atlantic as Chief of Staff in March 2020.
 
His awards include the Defense Superior Service Medal, Legion of Merit, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Navy Meritorious Service Medal (two awards), Air Medal (strike flight award), Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (four awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (two awards), and various other campaign medals and unit awards
