Executive Director 

Susan W. Carey is currently serving as the Executive Director, Navy Region Mid-Atlantic. This is her fourth CNIC enterprise Executive Director position since 2009. She is the Senior Civilian and Advisor for Shore Installation Management to the Regional Commander.

Ms. Carey began her career in 1982 as an enlisted Navy Sailor. Her 35 years of experience incorporate policy making, requirements generation, planning, programming, budgeting, accounting and finance (including NAF funds), human resources, manpower, contracting, quality of life programs, and transformation. Her civilian assignments have been at the base, region, major command, and service headquarters levels all around the world. She has devoted her career to the pursuit of challenges, gaining new prospective and taking care of people.

She served on active duty as SKC (SW) USN until March 2000. During her years of active duty and reserve duty she served on the USS Dixon (AS 37), USS Holland (AS 32), USS Detroit (AOE 4) and USS Sacramento (AOE 1).

Ms. Carey was Civilian of the Year for NRD Omaha, Nebraska 2000, Comptroller Qualified 2003 and CDFM 2007. Her civilian medals include the Civilian Superior Service Medal (2) and Meritorious Civilian Service Medal (1). Her Navy awards include meritorious promotions (2), Navy Commendation Medal (1), Navy Achievement Medal (4) and was awarded Naval Station Guantanamo Bay Cuba Sailor of the Year 1992.

Ms. Carey is married with two adult sons and hails from Shallotte, North Carolina.
