College programs are offered at on SUBASE from Three Rivers Community College, Eastern Connecticut State University, and Southern Illinois University Carbondale. Each institution is a SOCNAV member and maintains an office in the SUBASE Navy College Office. Each college awards credit for transfer coursework, Navy education and training from the SMART transcript, and for CLEP and DSST exams.
Three Rivers Community College (TRCC) is a two year public college located in Norwich, Conn. Classes leading to associate degrees in a variety of areas including general studies, business, criminal justice, and technology are offered on SUBASE, at an off campus site in Groton, or on the main campus. Eastern Connecticut State University (ECSU) is a four year public university located in Willimantic, Conn. ECSU offers courses leading to their Fast Track Bachelor of General Studies (BGS) with a focus in Management on SUBASE and at their off campus site in Groton. Students with 60 or more semester credits may be able to complete the degree in 18 months. Active duty and family members are eligible for in-state tuition. Southern Illinois University Carbondale (SIUC) is a public university that offers a Bachelor of Science in Workforce Education and Development (WED) on SUBASE. The SIUC program offers the major courses in an accelerated, weekend format that can be completed in one year. The WED program prepares students for careers in workforce education, corporate training, employee development, and technical and occupational careers.
