Relocation Benefits and Tips:
Whether you are preparing for your first military move or are a veteran of many, you will learn something from this class. Get an update on entitlements, allowances, and procedures that allow you to make your next move smoother, cheaper and with less hassle. Call 847-688-3603 ext. 100 for scheduling information. Be sure to include your name, duty station or status (retire, reserve, family member, or DoD civilian) and a daytime phone number.

RELO Outreach Centers:
The FFSC has three satellite Relocation Outreach Centers with loads of information for transferring sailors and their families. You can view Military Installations booklets that contain extensive general information about climate, housing, childcare, and other services and attractions in the geographic area of your transfer. Information also available at here.

There are also area and base maps, ships' welcome aboard package information, access to the Internet to review Navy websites, and detailed road maps with directions if you plan to drive to your next command. You may also use telephones in the Centers to call your next duty station. Contact a relocation specialist at one of the sites below and make your next transfer the best one of your career.

Personal Property
If you have shipped furniture or other personal property, the Personal Property Office located in Bldg. 8100, will be one of the first stops you will need to make. Shipping specialists will help you determine the status of your shipment. Ensure the office has a phone number where you may be contacted.

Upon establishment of a permanent residence, incoming personnel must contact the Personal Property office to make arrangements for delivery of their belongings. A minimum of five working days notice must be allowed for delivery from storage. Personnel who are unable to obtain permanent quarters upon arrival may have their goods placed in storage for 90 days. A second 90-day period may be requested through the Personal Property Office.

If, upon delivery of the personal property, there are any damaged or missing items, these should be noted on the pink form 1840 and signed and dated by both the owner and the moving company representative. Three copies should be left with the owner. Any additional loss/damage discovered after the movers depart should be noted on the 1840R (reverse) side of the form. All three copies must be submitted to the claims office within 70 days. Further instructions will be given at that time concerning the claim process.
Outbound shipments are processed by appointment only, Monday through Friday. Call Personal Property to make an appointment.
