Lieutenant Commander Maugeri, a native of Annapolis, Maryland, earned his Bachelor of Science in International Relations from the United States Naval Academy in 2008. He also played varsity baseball for the Naval Academy all four years.
He was commissioned as a Surface Warfare Officer in 2008. His first sea tour was aboard the USS Carr (FFG 52), homeported in Norfolk, Virginia, where he served as the Communications Officer and EKMS Manager and completed a six month counter-narcotics deployment to SOUTHCOM in 2009. His second tour was onboard the USS Cole (DDG 67) as the Training Officer deploying to 7th Fleet to conduct Ballistic Missile Defense. Upon completion of this assignment, he transferred to Naval Beach Group 2 where he served as Future Operations and Embarkation Officer. He was selected for Lateral Transfer to the Human Resources community during this tour of duty in 2013.
Maugeri then reported to the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, California. He obtained a Masters in Science of Management in the Manpower Systems Analysis curriculum in March 2016. He also earned his Joint Professional Military Education (JPME) Phase 1 during this tour.
After graduation from NPS, he reported to Naval Facilities Engineering Command (NAVFAC) Headquarters in Washington D.C. as the Sexual Assault Prevention and Response Officer (SAPRO). He earned his Professional in Human Resources (PHR) certification during this tour.
Maugeri is authorized to wear the Navy Commendation Medal (two awards) and Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (two awards).
