Commanding Officer, Naval Support Activity Crane 

Commander Smith is a native of Riverbank California. He is a 2002 graduate of the United States Naval Academy where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Ocean Engineering and was commissioned as an Ensign.  He completed Naval Nuclear Power training and graduated from the Naval Post Graduate School with a Master of Science degree in Systems Engineering and Analysis.

His initial sea tour was as Electronic Warfare and Communications Officer onboard USS CLEVELAND (LPD 7).  Subsequent sea tours include duties as Reactor Laboratories Officer on USS GEORGE WASHINGTON (CVN 73), Combat Systems Officer on USS BATAAN (LHD 5), and Main Propulsion

Assistant on USS GEORGE H.W. BUSH (CVN 77).   His most recent at sea

tour was as Executive Officer USS CORONADO (LCS 4).

Ashore, Commander Smith served on the staff of Commander Naval Air Forces Atlantic as the Deputy Officer in Charge of the Surface Nuclear

Propulsion Mobile Training Team.   He most recently served as

Opposition Force Director for Commander Carrier Strike Group 15 .

His personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal and various unit and campaign awards.
