TRANSITION GPS (Goals, Plans, Success)

This is a five-day mandatory DOD workshop for retiring or separating military members making the transition to the civilian sector. The workshop provides instruction on skills identification, resume preparation, interview techniques, and veterans' entitlements. Uniform of the day is required. No cost orders if command required. Spouses are welcome to attend as space permits.

Classes are Monday-Friday

Monday 0630-1630

Tuesday-Friday 0800-1630

Transition GPS Schedule 2014

VA DISABILITY BENEFITS REVIEW

This day long workshop sponsored by the Virginia Department of Veterans Services and FFSC is for service members who are within 60 days to six months of retirement or separation. Class participants will learn how to review service medical records; identify medical conditions that may lead to a compensable disability rating; request vocational rehabilitation benefits and training; and complete their application for submission.

In order to accurately complete the application forms, please bring the following:

Medical records (original and 1 copy)

Copies of:
Marriage certificate, children's birth certificates, dependents social security numbers, divorce decree or death certificate for any previous marriages, and bank account and routing information.

CONSEP

An Effective Retention Tool

The military faces intense competition from industry for highly trained technicians. TAP includes a powerful comparison of the realities of military and private - sector employment, which may result in decisions to stay in the military.

Better preparation for transition also reduces stress about the future, allowing service members to focus on work.

Career Options and Navy Skills Evaluation Program (CONSEP)

CONSEP has been designed to assist Sailors identify their individual skill and talents, develop long-term professional and personal goals, plan for personal financial stability, research civilian skills and qualifications, establish effective long-term planning objectives and emphasizes the values of continuing a Navy career. Through a series of information briefs and skill building exercises, the goal of CONSEP is to empower sailors to make educated and informed decisions, regarding their career with the Navy and civilian employment choices.

FIRST TERM CAREER ACCELERATOR WORKSHOP

The First-Term CONSEP Workshop is designed for enlisted Sailors, on the First-Term of active duty with 12-24 months remaining on their current contract.
