Welcome to the Naval Support Activity Mechanicsburg located off the Carlisle Pike in Hampden Township, Pa. We are committed to providing effective and efficient world-class base operating support to our tenants, visitors and residents, while enabling our fighters and supporting our families.

Installation Information

NSA Mechanicsburg is located in Central Pennsylvania at the eastern boundary of Mechanicsburg.  It has more than 150 buildings with 8.8 million square feet of space. The various land uses at NSA fall into four functional areas: administrative; housing and community facilities; warehousing; and open storage. Some 40 tenant commands are located on the 806-acre complex.

  • 20190615-N-YT162-005 The Battle of Midway commemoration is an annual ritual on NSA Mechanicsburg. Considered the turning point in the Pacific, U.S. Navy carrier strike forces, augmented by shore-based bombers and torpedo planes, decisively defeated an Imperial Japanese navy carrier task force during the June 4-7, 1942, battle.
  • 20190716-N-YT162-035 Team NSA hosts, “Freedom Fest” each year for employees and families.  Numerous free activities, live music and a dazzling fireworks display are all part of the day-long event which attracts more than 2,000 people.
  • 20200810-N-YT162-006 NSA Mechanicsburg served as a power projection platform for an Army deployment.  Navy personnel assisted the Pennsylvania National Guard’s Aviation Brigade with safely loading some 600 vehicles on rail cars.
  • 20170517-N-0YT162-021 Annually NSA Mechanicsburg hosts, “Bring Your Child to Work Day” along with “Earth Day.”  One of the stops is an environmental station where children have the opportunity to learn more about human impacts on the environment.
  • 20160615-N-YT162-003 Commissioned October 1, 1942, NSA Mechanicsburg is today the Navy’s strategic logistics hub. Sprawling across more than 800 acres with more than 150 facilities, it is Cumberland County’s largest employer.
  • 20191207-N-YT162-34 The attack on Pearl Harbor is commemorated each year at the Pennsylvania State Capitol.  The Commonwealth is very fortunate to have several Pearl Harbor survivors still in its ranks.
