Commander Christopher J. Tejeda, of Houston, TX, began his naval career in July 1992 at Recruit Training Center, Great Lakes upon graduating from Ross S. Sterling High School. Upon completion of recruit training, he attended Fire Controlman “A” school, Naval Education Training Center, Great Lakes, with follow-on orders to Tomahawk/Harpoon “C” schools prior to arriving into the fleet. His first enlisted sea assignment was onboard USS STOUT (DDG-55) where he was selected for the Broadened Opportunity for Officer Selection and Training (BOOST) and awarded an NROTC scholarship. Commander Tejeda received his commission in May 2000 after graduating from University of Houston with a Bachelor of Science in Electronics Technology.
He has completed sea duty assignments onboard USS WADSWORTH (FFG-9) as CICO/1st LT, (San Diego, CA); USS GEORGE WASHINGTON (CVN-73) as Reactor Auxiliaries Officer (Norfolk, VA); USS NICHOLAS (FFG-47) as Operations Officer (Norfolk, VA); USS KEARSARGE (LHD-3) as 1st LT; USS ABRAHAM LINCOLN (CVN-72) as Auxiliaries Officer.
He has completed shore assignments at Afloat Training Group Ingleside (ATGI) as the N3/Lead Training Liaison Officer for MCMRON (Ingleside, TX); Patrol Coastal Squadron ONE (PCRON-1) as N6 (Virginia Beach, VA and Manama, Bahrain); Expeditionary Warfare Collaboration Team (EWCT) as Operations Officer/Lead Surface Warfare (Quantico, VA); Carrier Strike Group FOUR (CSG-4) as the Lead Surface Warfare Assessor.
Commander Tejeda has earned the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation and Achievement medals along with various unit commendations.
