Our mission is to provide housing support for all families and unaccompanied personnel assigned to Naval Support Activity (NSA) Saratoga Springs, Nuclear Power Training Unit (NPTU) Ballston Spa and surrounding commands. Our goal is to help our customers locate suitable and affordable housing whether they are unaccompanied or accompanied, and regardless of branch of service.
Housing options include:
- Privatized housing.
- Off-base housing.
The Housing Service Center (HSC) team can assist with the following:
- Leased or privatized housing.
- Housing Referral Services to assist you locate suitable and affordable housing.
In accordance with NAVADMIN 198/17, renters insurance will no longer be provided by Public-Private Venture (PPV) partners as part of their housing rental agreements. Find more info on the Navy Housing website.
HOMES.mil is the official Department of Defense (DoD) website, dedicated to helping Service Members, families and DoD civilians find housing.
THIRD PARTY HOUSING APPLICATION SITE. It has come to the attention of some Navy installations that a third party site, MILITARYHOMELINK, is hosting an online DoD housig application and forwarding this application directly to the privatized housing partner. This website seems to list only Hunt Properties (Not Balfour Beatty at this point).
Customers are confused when they submit the application and believe they are on the housing waitlist. Housing applications should be submitted to the Navy Housing offices ONLY. Service Members and their families are advised to protect personally identifiable information and not use third party applications.
Housing Early Assistance Tool
Navy Housing developed the Housing Early Assistance Tool (HEAT) to assist Service Members and their families in applying for housing Navywide. HEAT allows Service Members and their families to apply for housing at one or more Navy installations online before or after they receive their permanent change of station (PCS) orders. HEAT is available to any Service member at all Navy installations.
HEAT creates an easy user experience. Spouses can use the tool as well, needing only minimal informatin about their Service Member.
All you need to get started:
- Sponsor's last name.
- Sponsor's social security number.
- Your contact information.
- New duty location(s).

PLEASE NOTE: HEAT cannot improve your position on a housing wait list. This is determined by regulations based on having orders, Service Member housing priority and detachment date from the current duty station. HEAT allows Service members to make earlier contact, complete their application and, after receiving orders, be placed on the wait list.
